This is a textbook to cover the topics of the main soft and study skills expected to be attained by a newly admitted undergraduate student at Ahfad University for Women. The faculty at the School of Languages develops and updates this textbook annually.  Undergraduate students need soft and study skills as they experience a lot of diversity in their places of study and learn things in a changing environment; where teaching/learning methods are characterized by modernity and interactivity.   The book endeavours to train students in the key soft and study skills that are needed during their university programs and for their future career. As these skills excel while the students progress across the study years.

The soft and study skills needed for university education are gained through studying at this level. They evolve and mature through practice, trail and errors, feedback from others and reflection. As they move through the different stages of their study, they will be surprised at how their thinking and language skills develop simply through continuous study. Adopting good soft and study skills have little to do with being naturally clever. They are much more related to learning, planning, strategies, confidence, and practice. All these lead to an overall development in students’ learning. However, the most important issue is that students feel ready intellectually, emotionally and financially before they begin.
